Peace and comfort in Hebrew are Shalom and Nechama.
Peace in Greek is Eirene.
Both in Hebrew and Greek the meaning of peace is complete or whole.
Biblically the meaning of peace goes beyond the absence of conflict. It represents well-being, wholeness and harmony. Comfort in its biblical meaning, means encouragement and strength that comes from God.
John Chp.27v 27 says: "I am leaving you with a gift peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So, don't be troubled or afraid."
2 Corinthians 1:3- 4 NLT says: "All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us."
Brothers and Sisters in Christ remember God comforts us so we could comfort others. This world is getting worse, and we need each other. A listening ear and understanding can go a long way.
